"I'm leaving in the morning, for Nibelheim. Should be a short trip." Zack grinned, relishing the prospect of excitement as ever.
Aeris fought back the feeling of unease that his words produced and smiled, but she couldn't quash the feeling of cold dread that kept sneaking up on her. She held on tight, keeping him close, keeping him safe.
"Aeris, I'll be fine." Zack smiled, holding her hands clasped in his, and kissed her gently. "Not to worry, love. I'll be back in no time."
She watched him stride away and wished she could say what she felt. Don't go.
