"We did it." Cecil is standing in the doorway, a smile on his face, and he gestures at the spear Kain has carefully stored in a glass-fronted case. Cecil brandishes a scabbard lavishly decorated with the crest of Baron. "You're a Dragoon, and I'm a Dark Knight."
"We both have what we wanted," Kain agrees, telling himself it is true.
Cecil pulls his other hand from behind his back, and he is holding a bottle of King Odin's best pear brandy. "So, let's celebrate," Cecil says.
Later, Kain thinks the brandy tastes better on Cecil's lips than in the bottle.
