They do not speak, when it comes time to leave. There is too much between them for words to encompass.
It is not goodbye--not forever. They will text, and call, and she will make time in her schedule to see him. This is temporary.
Yet her heart aches at the idea that he will not be near. They have always carried different burdens, but they carried them together, a partnership born of necessity that grew into something far stronger, far greater.
They do not smile, when it comes time to leave, but they squeeze hands.
She makes it enough.
