They say you have to close one door to open another. That's particularly true for me, except I didn't close it, I slammed it shut and boarded it up. I had to give up commanding whole armies of troops and an advisory position to the most powerful man in the world. I gave up being alone in the midst of a crowd, always sealed off from those around me. I gained friends. I gained love and the knowledge that I was doing the right thing. You don't always have to regret all that you leave behind you. I certainly haven't.
