She always took good care of them; they were well fed and well paid, she treated their wounds, and took their concerns seriously. But their base was always their ship. They never stayed on an island longer than it took to find the materials for repairs, always on the move.
Her son built a home for his crew. Not just a fortress where they can be safe from the navies, but a true home, where they can be at ease.
She tells him she's proud he surpassed her.
