Oh, I knew I'd like it because DISSIDIA FIC. (And specifically Dissidia fic with GIRLS IN IT. Even one girl in it. There is not enough of that. SOOOOOO not enough of that. Even though Dissidia Duodecim has ALL THESE AWESOME LADIES. LIIIIIIGHTNING. TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.) But this is amazing and epic, and what I love about them is... they're broken, but their relationship is... strangely not; they're trying to make something that's whole together. Even in the midst of, you know, being avatars of opposing cosmic forces. There is mutual respect and tenderness there in spite of all of that. He would have tried for her. OMG. OMG. OMG. It's like, they have made the most functional relationship possible under the circumstances WHICH ARE REALLY BAD CIRCUMSTANCES. And that's just beautiful. And I also love the back-and-forth on which of them is Chaos and which is Cosmos.
(Oh, Kain/Rosa. I might have ALL THE THOUGHTS about them. Such as how it's White mages who cast Confuse and Berserk, which means Rosa knows a thing or two about how that whole mind-control thing works--- especially depending on how much level-grinding you've done by that point in the game, lol--- hence her apparent in-game forgiveness of Kain--- it's not "Stereotypical Good-Hearted Girl Forgives All" it's, "Dude, I know how that shit works, because I COULD DO IT TO YOU MYSELF IF I WANTED, now chillax". Especially with my headcanon being that he wasn't able to defy Golbez enough to release her, but he put himself in harm's way to protect her in the Tower.) (Wow, I totally made this all about FFIV there. I'd apologize, but... I'm not sure I need to? ;) )
