Summary: Her memory is worse now than ever before.

She doesn't know where she put the milk.

It isn't in the refrigerator, nor the counter nor the table. There is no discarded bottle in the trash or recycling.

She opens the refrigerator again, but there is still no bottle.

She closes the door again and leans her head against it, but that doesn't jog the memory into place.

Of all the things the GF took from her, the most frustrating is this: the small problems of everyday life.

She chose that sacrifice willingly, or so she thought, but she isn't quite sure anymore.

What was she looking for again?

I love the morose feel of this piece. It's so simple and understated. I love the focus on the mundane aspect of life and how it would be affected.

Thank you! I figure: there's got to be more to it than memories of childhood (other fics i've written notwithstanding), and then i started thinking about how that would affect them and wound up with this.
