Summary: They can have their spawn back.

The quiet on the Veldt was oppressive. He knew they were out there, stalking ever closer, wanting to reclaim their spawn that he carried in his arms. Their spawn, the cursed beast that had killed his beautiful Sarah. Every now and again he heard a chitter, or the careless scrape of claws across the rustling grass. Just a little farther, and he could leave the squirming demon on the ground for them to reclaim.
It began to fuss, screaming and crinkling its face up. "Shut up, you'll bring them all down on us!" he muttered. The monster didn't listen.
He set down his bundle in the midst of a large tuft of bright green grass that nearly matched the wispy strands of hair poking out of the swaddling and turned to walk home. Sarah would be waiting for him, and he couldn't let her down.
