"Do you still hate me for Mist?" I ask quietly. She doesn't say anything, facing away from me with her green hair falling to obscure her expression. I wait, fingertips caressing her bare shoulder idly.
"I don't know," she says finally. "I know you were only following the king's orders, but..." She glances at the window, but the ruins of her hometown aren't visible from my tower in Baron.
I nod and brush her hair back gently. She turns to face me and smiles. "But I wouldn't exactly say that I hate you, Kain." Her kiss is soft and sweet.
