Zidane trails his fingertips along Garnet's shoulders. For all her determination, she is slightly built, delicate bones under silky pale skin. Her shoulders are narrow, and her neck is long and slim. He kisses the point where her neck and shoulder meet to make her shiver, and smiles when she cuddles back against him.
Sometimes it seems she has the weight of the world on her shoulders--not just the cares of everyday life, or of Alexandria, but everyone everywhere: she takes on their burdens. He tries to help when he can, because who else will help bear her burdens?
