Character: Beatrix
Rating: G
Warnings: Spoilers through Cleyra
Notes: Written for
madain_sari, themes #1 Jewels, #22 Cleyra, #27 Heat, #74 Birds.
Wordcount: 100
Summary: The jewel beat in her hands like a pulse.
Beta: None
The silence in Cleyra was incredible. Everyone seemed frozen in place, unable to move. She did not slay the ragtag group that attempted to oppose her; she had no need. Instead, she turned toward the wind harp, where a jewel glittered in spectacular rainbows.
She crossed the room and plucked the jewel from the fragile strands of metal that held it in place. It was hot against her skin, and she felt a fluttering, rhythmic pulse, as of the rapid beat of a bird's heart, against her cupped palm.
She tucked away the beating heart of a nation and departed.
