Ere this, she found comfort in solid earth beneath her feet, its unyielding strength. Ere him, when she looked to the sky, she saw a component of the physical world, not the idea of freedom.
He calls himself their pilot, and it pleases him to be in control of the panels. It pleases her to see his joy when the Strahl responds to his cues and hurtles through the sky like an eagle diving for prey.
He gave her the sky, and for no other reason than that, she would love him; in return, she gives him the earth's comfort.
