Summary: Leo fears what he might become.
Leo favors the sword, face-to-face. Even before magic, Kefka never did; he spent hours devising alchemical solutions that could blind or poison a man from a distance. The infusion divides them another way, for something broke in Kefka that day. Where before he had done clever things to please the Emperor or to save others' lives, now he twists lives and fates like a tangled rope, merely because he can.
When the Emperor offers magic to Leo, even his liege's disappointment cannot conquer the fear that, should he accept, he would one day see Kefka in the mirror, not himself.
